東進武嶺(Bike to Wuling from East)

The last time I visited Wuling was almost nine years ago. There are three routes to Wuling. West is from Puli. North is from Yilan. East is from Hualien. I experienced the west and north route by bike before, but I never rode the east route. So, this time I decided to ride the east route with friends even though I had to use special leaves.

The route overview:

Day 1(7/18): Total distance is 73.34 km and Total ascent is 2,687 m

Day 2(7/19):

Session 1: Total distance is 15.50 km and Total ascent is 934 m

Session 2: Total distance is 83.45 km and Total ascent is 324 m

Day one photo:

Arrived at the peak, Wuling!

A place for short break

The route sightseeing is really really astonishing; however, it’s better to depart earlier because there is road restriction due to the not stable road situation as the 117.4 k. Otherwise, you’ll feel great pressure as if you can’t pass it.

It is one of the most challenging routes I experienced before, I will say. I’ll visit here again. Hope you will start to plan it also.
